CandyBox: A Persistent Information Retrieval System for Seamless Querying and Browsing

CandyBox

Abstract

In this project, we have developed system for information retrieval, which allows the user to seamlessly change his or her mode of interaction with computer between specifying query and browsing information relevant to the user’s interest. The user can specify graphical Boolean query based on Venn diagram model, instead of textual query. This helps the user re-use a part of past query and encourages the user to try off-the-wall combinations of keywords because of its easiness of making query. When the user does not explicitly use this system, keywords are randomly moving. If a keyword hits another keyword, the system removes them and generates new keywords related to the removed keywords using Web search. This facility also helps the user to get new ideas resulted from unexpected but interest keywords generated by the system.
